Over the past weeks, patients, visitors and staff have been voting in secret for their favourite artwork and photography entry in this year’s Staff and Volunteer Open Art Exhibition. Photography, paintings, drawings, prints, textiles, jewellery and mixed media all feature. A total of 56 staff members from 34 different departments entered, from doctors and consultants to biomedical scientists. Exhibitions Manager Tony Smith said “There is a real diversity throughout the exhibition and the quality of the artwork on display is terrific. It delivers as an exhibition to rival any other!”
The winners for best artwork and photography in show will be revealed by the Chairman, Councillor Martin Veal at the Prize Giving Ceremony on 17th September in the Lansdown Foyer, RUH Bath from 5-6pm.
In addition, there will be an evening of artist talks and short film presentations from artists involved in the Fresh Art @Hillview project. The soirée held on the 11th September in the Neurology Outpatients (Room B9) from 6:30-8pm is in light of their exhibition, currently on show in the central corridor, and aims to present mental health in a positive light, embrace social inclusion and break down stigma.
Both events are free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
You can now keep up to date with our programme, covering exhibitions to workshops via our What’s On Guide. Pick up your copy along the RUH central corridors today.
