The recommissioning of adult mental health services in Bristol has resulted in the inclusion of Arts on Referral as a ‘Level 2’ treatment option.
NHS Bristol’s arts on referral scheme, Artshine, was assessed as being appropriate as a Level 2 intervention, which means arts on referral can be available to patients as part of mainstream mental health services in the city.
In order to deliver a treatment intervention, providers must go through a procurement process with NHS Bristol, and bid to become an Any Qualified Provider ‘AQP’. Social interventions, such as arts for wellbeing projects, remain outside of the AQP process.
The new Level 1 IAPT provider (Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies) will launch in October this year.
